It has been insane considering the amount of eat outs and takeaways we have had in the past week. So I decided to opt for a slightly healthier alternative this week, compared to the amount of junk food I’ve been consuming all the while. I am going back to my healthy smoothie drink as an alternative to my junk snack. Today being the first day, I decided to try this amazing detox drink.
For this detox drink, you will need…
– Carrot: detoxes the liver and remove excess toxins from the human body
– Apple: regulates the digestive system for a better digestion
– Celery: rehydrates and replenishes the body
– Ginger: reduces heartburn and inflamtion caused by indigestion
– Lime: high in Vitamin C and cleanses the liver.
Blend away and sever with ice. 🙂
Why am I doing this? To begin with, I am not a super health freak. However, I like being healthy. I enjoy my 3 meals with a snack or two in between (and of course a dessert if I can cheekily tuck into one! :D). As I have already mentioned above, I am using this detox drink as an alternative to my snack. They say it’s the best to have fresh juice/smoothie on an empty stomach for better nutrition absorption. I cannot skip my breakfast for anything in the world. Lol. So I chose to drink this detox juice/smoothie after my workout. You may consume this as your pre or post workout drink. It is absolutely refreshing and replaces the lost bodily fluid. So this is going to be my mission for the week. You can find my other healthy smoothie recipes here. I intend to alternate my drinks throughout the week. I will try and do a post on a detox recipe if it happens to be slightly different from what I have already been doing so far.
