Check mate(s)! πŸ”²πŸ”³

Hello y’all! (Does this slang sound a tad more appropriate with today’s post?!😜). Whilst the temperatures have been dropping low, it’s time to get them jackets, boots, hats, hoodies out of the closet! So here we are yet again with our first proper ‘autumn-winter’ coordinated ootd blogpost! 😊

Here’s us wearing…

8+ months …….

20131221-051152 pm.jpg

Aloha! I have missed being active and doing my regular posts. Let’s just say I was having days or ‘months’ of me time and not going over board with my pregnancy. But that does not mean I haven’t been documenting the weeks and months leading up to the birth of my beautiful daughter (blessed!). πŸ™‚

Breast Cancer Awareness month (and your previous participation)

Couple of months ago I had posted a topic on participating for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research, where I had requested family and friends to support me with my cause (click here full details). Today, being the 1st of October, a month dedicated towards Breast Cancer Awareness, I take the opportunity to thank everyone who took time to email or message me their pictures in pink to support my cause. This has meant a lot to me. As promised, I did donate the contributions to UK Cancer Research on the 19th of May, the day I lost my beloved Mother to this horrible illness.

Let us take a moment to remember and pray for all the brave people, their families and loved ones who are or have battled this illness together.

Would you like to participate?

Every time I do a post, it’s always been focused around me. I just realised that for once I could take away the focus from me and involve my family, friends and anyone interested to participate in one of my posts.

It’s simple. Since one/few of my recent posts were on pink, I decided on making a post where anyone interested in participating can send me pictures of their outfit in pink.

Why am I doing this?Β I will be honest. Initially when I came up with this idea, I wanted it to be a fun post.Β But then, I wanted my post to have some meaning to it and not just another fashion post. Since I published ‘a week in pink’ post during this month, I thought I could use it as an excuse to get you participating in my next post.

The colour ‘pink’ is not just a colour. It is a colour which also signifies ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’. I thought I could use this opportunity to contribute towards Breast Cancer Research and Awareness by raising funds for the Cancer charities.Β Coming May, it will be 2 years since I lost my Mother and, 12 years since I lost my Aunt to Breast Cancer. So if I could show support in a small way, I would.

Afternoon tea with the girls

I mentioned on Saturday that I was having the girls over for some afternoon tea. The tea went really well. To be honest, this was the first time I was hosting tea at home and, I was so excited by the thought of it. I always remember having these ‘tea parties’ as a little girl. I would role play them by myself or, with my friends. We always had fun doing so. So, when I had the opportunity to host one as an adult, I just could not wait to step into the role of hosting one. πŸ˜€

What is ‘DIET’ according to you?

I decided to write this post because I have been asked this question a number of times recently, “are you dieting?”. There seems to be a lot of confusion with regards to the word ‘dieting’. Some of you may call it, “healthy eating”, the rest may simply say “not eating at all”. Well the later to me is ‘starving’! In simple terms, the word ‘diet’ is used to refer to “the sum of food consumed by an organism or a group”, as quoted by the famous Wikipedia. Continue reading

What a girl wants, what a girl needs…

I cannot help but hum to Christina Aguilera’s song/lyrics “what a girl wants, what a girl needs…”, whilst I write this post. No! I am not talking about falling in love, holding his hands or being in his arms or anything love related. I am talking about the other fantasies like shoes, bags, clothes, jewellery, make up and a lot more, a woman secretly/openly loathes and fantasises, and a man/most men might never understand or make an attempt to understand like my beloved. Lol. So here’s what I am talking about…….. Continue reading

Day 2 – workout

Day 2 workout session for me is usually on a Wednesday. I will not be going through the warm-up, stretches and cool down exercises in detail because, I usually follow the same routine most days I exercise. I have already mentioned these in detail in my previous post ‘Day 1- workout’. I like altering and alternating my workouts. In this post the cardio exercise, abdominal exercise and the strength training will vary slightly from the previous session’s workout.

Curry leaves

Being a South-Indian, I have never failed to add curry leaves to any of my dishes. The BBC food describe them as “shiny, dark green, aromatic leaves from the citrus fruit family that release a delicious nutty aroma when fried in oil”. As the name suggests, it is used widely in curries hence the name ‘curry leaves’ and this is extensively used in Indian and South East Asian cuisine.
